Art Clay Silver properly fired will be about
as strong as 18k cast gold.
This is strong enough to make pendants, earring, rings and most
common jewelry items. Art Clay is quite durable, but requires
additional support, such as 12 gauge silver wire, to make bangle
style bracelets.
2. Is it possible
to add more to something once it is fired?
Although a piece is fired, it is possible
to add more clay and re-fire it. It's amazing to see the new
clay parts bond to the previously fired piece and become one
solid piece.
3. How to
fix a broken piece?
Repairs can be made with Oil
Paste, which allows you to join fired pieces back together.
You can also use Oil Paste
instead of flux and solder.
4. Can I solder
findings onto my piece after I have fired it?
Yes. It is very easy to solder onto Art Clay
Silver. It is dense enough to accept solder because the silver
particles in the unfired clay are 1 to 20 microns in size. During
firing, they sinter closely together.
